The Zonta Club of Austin presented Elaine Hansen, executive director of the Mower County Red Cross, with the 2013 Woman of Achievement Award.

Elaine Hansen has quickly been on scene for those in times of distress or disasters over the past years, and last night at St. Edward’s Corcoran Center, 2012 award recipient Jeanne Sheenan presented Hansen with the award. A panel of three judges weeded through applications and tallied the most points, of which Hansen gained the most.

Zonta also awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a prospective Riverland Student and $200 and $300 scholarships for Young Women in Public. A Jane M. Klausman scholarship for women in business will be awarded later this year.
