With the end of March comes the end of Food Share Month in Minnesota.
Our area food shelves worked diligently throughout March to secure food and monetary donations to stock the shelves. All donations during March also qualified local food shelves for additional donations through the Food Share Program.
Minnesota Food Share is the largest, annual, grassroots food collection campaign; helping restock roughly 300 food shelves across the state. Our local food shelf relies on the generous support of donors like you to help feed our friends and neighbors that don’t have enough to eat.
Channel One Regional Food Bank is the primary source of support, surplus commodities and low-cost food for local food shelves throughout Southeastern Minnesota. We thank everyone who donated to the local food shelf during March Food Share Month and who continue to support the food shelf throughout the year.
The demand on our local food shelf and Channel One is taxing. Channel One Regional Food Bank distributed more than 8 million pounds of food and provided hunger relief to more than 85,000 Southeast Minnesota residents in 2012. Donations to Channel One Food Bank are needed to help maintain and strengthen our ability to help your local food shelf and feed your friends and neighbors.
Please include Channel One in your giving. For information on how your company, organization or you individually can join the Channel One Food Bank mission and fight hunger regionally visit the Channel One website at www.helpingfeedpeople.org. Or simply send your tax-deductible donation to 131 — 35th St. SE, Rochester, MN 55904.
If you would like to learn more about hunger in southeastern Minnesota I will gladly speak to you, your organization, group or company and provide information on hunger in America, in our region, in your town and about Channel One. Please contact me at 507-454-8842 or email jackkarnick@channel-one.org.
Working together, with your help, we are feeding people and changing lives.
