A 32-year-old Austin man is in the Mower County jail pending formal charges after he allegedly held a cutlery knife to his girlfriend’s throat.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said police responded to a domestic assault call at the 1100 block of Sixth Street NW at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday. Officers found the 32-year-old leaving the home as they pulled up, and arrested him on felony second-degree assault and terroristic threat charges.

The victim told police the 32-year-old held a knife to her throat during an argument. Krueger said police found the knife in question a Royal Northfolk cutlery knife and the case has been forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s office.
