Paul Frederick Wachlin, 88, of Brownsdale, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System — Albert Lea and Austin.

He was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Waltham Township, Minn. to Otto and Martha (Heikes) Wachlin. Paul attended school in Brownsdale and at Trinity Lutheran School, graduating from Austin High School in 1944. He farmed with his dad and worked at various jobs in the area. On June 14, 1951, Paul was united in marriage to Adeline Wuertz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham. The couple raised five children. They lived and farmed in Waltham Township until moving to Brownsdale in 1999. Paul was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham and in his community. He enjoyed visiting with friends, reading, working in his shop, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Adeline Wachlin of Brownsdale; his children Muriel (David) Polzin of Norwood Young America, Minn., Mark Wachlin of Austin, Julie (Mark) Endorf of Ham Lake, Minn., Susan (Jim) Anderson of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Donald (Alpha) Wuertz of Longmont, Colo., Marilyn (Marcus) Simantel of Seaside, Ore., Linda (Larry) Stoterau of Orange, Calif.. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law David F. and Lynda A. (Bohr) Wachlin on Aug. 3, 2004, his parents Otto and Martha Wachlin, brothers Donald (Anita) Wachlin and Marvin (Annie) Wachlin, a brother in infancy, sister Lois (Orin) Holmes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham with Rev. Jeffrey Kuddes officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Waltham. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
