Donald D. Turner, 80, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at his home.

Donald was born on March 17, 1932, in Austin to George and Anna (Record) Turner. After attending Austin High School, he received his GED while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Don was stationed in many places in the U.S., including Georgia, Texas and New Mexico. After his discharge, he returned home to Austin where he worked various jobs before starting with 7-Up Bottling Company, where he worked for 18 years. He then took a job with Jim Lebens Ford in Austin, finishing his working years as a security guard for Hormel Foods. On Sept. 16, 1950, he married Beverly Stundahl at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. They celebrated their 61st anniversary on Sept. 16, 2011. Beverly passed away on May 21, 2012. The couple enjoyed traveling, going to the casino and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Christofferson of Owatonna; son Donald S. (Patty) Turner of Afton, Minn.; three grandchildren, Beth (Matt) Kunkel of Mankato, and Jesse and Cody Christofferson of Owatonna; sister, Georgia Nelson of Austin; sisters-in-law Merlene Smith and Sandra (Bill) Knopf of Rochester, Joyce Stundahl, Shirley Stundahl and Rose Stundahl, all of Austin; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Beverly; his parents George and Anna Turner; sister and brother-in-law Lillian (Lloyd) Gaul; brothers-in-law Donald Nelson, Everett Stundahl, Melvin Stundahl, Duane Stundahl and Charlie Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Karen Grandall officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Worlein Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216.
