MANKATO – The Packer wrestling team was a little shorthanded and they hadn’t competed in three weeks, but they took care of business in a 44-33 win over Mankato West Thursday.
Kole Igou picked up a first period win at 160 pounds and Riley Grinstead won with a 20-5 tech. fall at 152 for Austin (4-4 overall, 2-2 Big Nine).
“Riley Grinstead’s technical fall at 152 and Kole Igou’s pin at 160 were prime examples of being ready to wrestle and perform well,” Austin head coach Bill Kinney said. “Kole’s pin at 160 was a huge turning point in the dual. In just his second year in wrestling, Kole Igou is making huge strides. He is on the brink of being very good.”
Two of Austin’s top wrestlers, Brandon Cotter and Brennan Russell received forfeits, while Erick Power and Devon Felten won with pins.
