Lorraine R. Oestreich, 89, of Austin, Minn., formerly of St. Paul, Minn., died Jan. 13, 2013, after a long illness.
Lorraine R. Oestreich (née Jarvis) was born April 4, 1923, in St. Paul to Emma and Frank Jarvis. She had been a lifetime resident of West St. Paul and South St. Paul until moving to Austin in 2008 to be near her daughter.
She graduated from Humboldt High School in St. Paul in 1941. Lorraine married Marvin Oestreich on June 8, 1946. She loved being a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper at different stages of her life.
Lorraine loved her family and friends and enjoyed reading, knitting and cross-stitching. She was an active member for many years at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, South St. Paul and St. Paul’s on the Hill Episcopal Church in St. Paul. A lifelong Episcopalian, she was currently a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her twin sister, Ruth; her sister, Dorothy; and two brothers, Armand and Alvin.
Lorraine is survived by daughter, Susan (Vern) Grove, of Austin; son, Stephen (Claudia), of South St. Paul; grandson, Chris (Alicia) Grove; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Madisyn Grove, all of Austin; step grandson, Charles (Jessie) Linkert of New Market, Minn., and their daughter Lauren; sister-in-law, Audrey Arneson of Austin; and special nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 301 Third Ave. NW, Austin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17 with inurnment at Fort Snelling at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Clasen Jordan Mortuary and at the church for one hour before the service on Thursday morning. Memorials are preferred to Christ Episcopal Church, Austin, or donor’s choice.
