The ceramic creations of Jerry Deuschle are being featured at the Austin Area Art Center during its January show, “The Raku Artist.” On Jan. 27, the final day of the exhibit, a reception will be held in Deuschle’s honor from 1 to 3 p.m.
Raku is a pottery technique with origins in 16th century Japan and is deep in philosophy and cultural significance. Desuchle has been working with raku firing methods for more than 19 years.
