The assailant who injured a man with a chain during an argument over a vehicle in September changed his plea to guilty Friday.
Dean Allen Thordor, 38, of Austin, pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor charge for fifth-degree domestic assault. Two felony charges, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault, were dismissed.
According to the Mower County Court complaint, the victim approached Thordor’s pickup near 1210 30th Avenue NE in Mower as the two disputed over a vehicle. The victim said Thordor struck him in the face several times with a blunt object. A witness said it was a chain.
Thordor allegedly drove away when he discovered someone called police.
When police arrived, the victim was bloody, had a “severely swollen” cheek, swollen and crooked nose and numerous scrapes. Doctor’s later found the victim had an orbital fracture, nasal fracture and lacerated lower lip.
Thordor’s sentencing is set for March 21.
