WASECA — The Austin boys hockey team didn’t allow as many shots as they did goals in their season opener as they beat Waseca (1-1 overall) 7-1 in their second game of the season on the road Tuesday.

Waseca opened its season with a 4-3 win over Dodge County, who beat Austin 9-7, but the Packers (1-1 overall) held the Bluejays to just six shots on goal Tuesday.

“We played much better on defense,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “We needed to tighten up some areas in our game.”
