ST. CLOUD — The Southland boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell 93-72 to No. 4 ranked St. Cloud Cathedral 93-72 in the St. Cloud Invite Thursday.
Cathedral (7-0 overall) opened the second half on a 9-0 run to go up 15, but the No. 10 ranked Rebels (7-1 overall) pulled to within six after a run of their own.
However, Cathedral’s seven-footer Conor Voss proved to be too much as he finished with 23 points and took over down the stretch.
“We battled well and it was much a closer game than 93-72,” Southland head coach John Thalberg said. “We played with them, but we just couldn’t finish them off. They’re a legitimate ranked team.”
Sam Klaehn led Southland with 21 points.
