June Norma Morgan, age 96 of Blooming Prairie, died Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2012, at Mayo Health Systems in Austin.
She was born Aug. 15, 1916, to Jacob and Laura (Evans) Puchta in Springfield, Minn., Brown County. She graduated from Austin High School in 1934 and married Myron Morgan on June 26, 1935, in Austin. They made their home in Moscow Township where they farmed until 1951 before moving to the Blooming Prairie area. As they continued farming, June enjoyed gardening and growing plants. Myron passed away on Sept. 3, 1979. June moved into town in 1994. An avid reader, she enjoyed swimming, bowling, playing cards and traveling. Her nieces and nephews enjoyed June’s homemade pickles. She was famous for her homemade buns and lemon meringue pie.
Survivors include June’s nieces and nephews, Kathryn (George) Dewey of Rochester; Donald (Paulette) Schlichter of Apple Valley; Charles (Nancy) Schlichter of Pueblo West, Colorado; Myron’s nieces and nephews, Anna (Jerald) Kelly of Austin, Minn., Rosemary Foulk of Mesa, Ariz., Clifford (Darlene) Hansen of Oregon City, Ore., Ralph Morgan of Long Prairie, Minn., Beverly (Bruce) Johnson of Bloomer, Wis., Steven (Bobbie) Hansen of Eagan, Minn., and Larry (Bonnie) Morgan of Jonesboro, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Myron; one sister and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church in Claremont with the Rev. Alan Broadwell officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Fairview Cemetery near Oakland, Minn.
