HAYFIELD — The Hayfield girls basketball team stepped up its defense as it beat Kenyon-Wanamingo (3-4 overall) 51-40 in Hayfield Tuesday.

Jo Bungum went 3-for-3 from the three-point arc to lead the Vikings (2-2 overall) with 19 points in the win.

“It was a real nice win for us,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “We played a strong defensive game and we slowed down the tempo.”
