A Waltham man says he is missing roughly $2,000 in tools after someone allegedly broke into his trailer.

The victim parked his trailer at his brother’s house in the 200 block of Columbus Street in Waltham and noticed it missing on Wednesday evening. The victim believes the alleged thief may have struck several days earlier. The thief made off with air compressors, air guns, power nailers, Skil saws and various DeWalt brand tools. There are no suspects, and it is unclear if recent thefts are linked to this case.

Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May noted the high incidence of construction tool thefts in the past months.

“If they want to get in bad enough, they are going to,” he said.

May recommends owners of expensive tools back their trailers up to buildings and secure their trailer hitches when they are done working.
