Local residents are about to have a ball at the upcoming ballet.

Bridget’s Dance Conservatory will perform “Cinderella” at 4 p.m. Sunday inside Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School.

“It’s quite a big production,” said Bridget Halvorson, owner of Bridget’s Dance Conservatory.

Halvorson originally thought of doing “Cinderella” in March of last year, but decided to wait until this fall, when Austin High School senior Garrin Loveland will end his time at the conservatory as the Prince. Albert Lea High School sophomore Jordan Friend will play Cinderella.

The ballet differs slightly from the Disney version of the famous fairy tale, though Halvorson did add a few surprises that movie-lovers will enjoy. “Cinderella” is a three-act ballet, though the conservatory has condensed the performance down to two acts.

Tickets are $10 at the door.
