Carol Hanson, 71, Plano, Texas

Carol Oppegard Hanson joined her loved ones in heaven on Dec. 3, 2012. She was born on June 25, 1941, in Twin Lakes, to Kenneth and Florence Oppegard. She grew up and lived in Twin Lakes and Albert Lea with her parents and brother, Con. She married Les Hanson on Aug. 25, 1962.
Carol, 71, died of complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. A private memorial service will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas, where she was a long-time member. She chose to donate her remains to UT Southwestern Medical Center for medical research.
During her lifetime, Carol earned a degree from Mankato State University. Les’ work took them across the United States and to Jamaica and Canada. Eventually, they settled in Plano, Texas. She enjoyed many years of ownership/partnership in several small businesses with dear family friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Carol is survived by her son, Chris Hanson (Allyson) of Coppell, Texas; her daughter, Kelly Walters (Mark) of Southlake, Texas; three grandchildren, Evan Walters, Sophie Walters, and Holt Hanson; her brother Con (Shari) and their family; and many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Resurrection Lutheran Church.
