Local blood drive to help hurricane victims

The local Red Cross is helping Hurricane Sandy victims.

Riverland Community College, at 1900 Eighth Ave. NW in Austin, will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30.

The American Red Cross is hoping with this blood drive to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, as the superstorm forced the cancellation of hundreds of blood drives along the East Coast, resulting in a shortfall of thousands of donations. While blood drive operations are being restored there, the need for blood donations continues.
