Paramount’s Comedy Night to benefit Humane Society

The Mower County Humane Society is hosting a night of laughs Wednesday.

The third annual Comedy Night fundraiser starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Paramount Theatre.

Minnesota comedians Adam Wheeler, Chris Dalman, and *Goobs* will raise money for puppies and kitties, with well-known comedian Tiffany Norton of Minneapolis as the headlining act. The Austin Jaycees will sell beer.

MCHS volunteer Kelly Rush said humane society workers will sell humane society hooded sweatshirts as well, and all proceeds will go to the current MCHS shelter’s operational expenses, which mostly goes to veterinarian fees.

“It’s great,” Rush said.

MCHS volunteers are also keeping tabs on the construction of a new humane society at the eastern end of Oakland Avenue East. MCHS broke ground on the shelter last month and Rush said construction could wrap up as soon as February. MCHS is still accepting donations for the building, as well as the associated utilities and road work which the humane society will need to pay.
