A Mapleview man faces felony and gross misdemeanor assault charges after he allegedly left several bruises on a woman and put her in a chokehold.
Police arrested Ronnie Dale Caldwell, 27, after they received a call about a domestic dispute after 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Mapleview. An officer heard shouting when he arrived at the home and arrested Caldwell after he came outside. The victim said she was upset because Caldwell allegedly had a bag of marijuana, so she was going to flush it down the toilet. According to the court complaint, Caldwell left bruises on the woman’s arms and marks on her neck from what the victim said was a chokehold.
Caldwell was charged Tuesday with felony domestic assault by strangulation, felony terroristic threats and two counts of gross misdemeanor domestic assault for subsequent violations. His next court appearance is Dec. 13.
