Alfred Skatter, 91, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Alfred Carl Skatter, 91, of Albert Lea, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dennis Seiler will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Alfred died on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at his home.
Alfred Carl Skatter was born on April 9, 1921, in Joice, Iowa, the son of Otto and Gunhild (Norsrud) Skatter. As a young man Alfred served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Oct. 12, 1949, he was united in marriage to Bernice Hanson at Trinity Lutheran Church. He began farming after his discharge from the service. In 1955 the couple moved into Albert Lea where he began working at Streater as an installation foreman. He also did independent carpentry work. Alfred enjoyed woodworking and yard work. His gift was the ability to build anything he saw. Blessed be his memory.
Survivors include his sons, Paul (Cheryl) and David (Debbie); grandchildren, Amy (Randy) Gorka, Heather Skatter and Jennifer (Phil) Knight; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan and Connor.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; two brothers and three sisters.
