The year is off to a great start in the Ellis Middle School Music Department. We have welcomed Ms. Maria Wilson to our choir program and Mr. Brad Anderson to our orchestra program. They join Nino Tarara, middle school band teacher, and Deb Linnes, middle school orchestra teacher. The year began with a great performance by the Ellis seventh and eighth grade marching band in the Austin Homecoming parade. We truly appreciate all of the support and encouragement from the community as these students marched the streets of Austin for the first time.
Our Ellis Early Bird Music programs have begun with rehearsals starting in the morning before school. Our Ellis students have the opportunity to perform with the Early Bird Choir, Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. Every year we are amazed by the dedication and commitment these students demonstrate in these groups.
Upcoming Events:
Our fifth-12th grade orchestra students have been invited to attend the Tuesday, Oct. 23 Austin Artist Series Concert. The orchestra students will have the opportunity to attend the Siberian Orchestra concert for free. Contact your child’s orchestra teacher for more details.
Our eighth grade band, orchestra, and choir students will perform a fall concert Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Ellis Auditorium. The concert is free to the public and all are welcome to attend.
The eighth grade band and chamber orchestra will be performing during the Ellis Veteran’s day ceremony on Monday, Nov. 12 at Ellis Middle School. The Ellis Student Council has been working hard to plan the event. Please come out to support the men and women who have served for our country. Please contact Ellis Middle School for more details.
