The Austin Area Arts Center is welcoming an award-winning Minnesota artist this month.

Marcus Moller is the star of the AAAC October art show, “The One Man Show of Marcus Moller Pastels.” Moller’s work will be on display at the art center until Oct. 28. Marcus has also agreed to hold a Pastel workshop here at the Art Center on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Moller is from Morristown, Minn., and studied art at Winona State. He experimented with virtually all two-dimensional media. Throughout the 1980s and ’90s he had numerous pen and ink illustrations published in several magazines, brochures and graphic designs for printing companies.

Today, his work may be viewed in a variety of expressions, at times soft, tranquil images to bold, contrasting statements. His work could be seen as loose and painterly or tight and detailed. Moller’s subject matter varies but is predominantly nature and wild life as well as portraiture.

Participants in the Oct. 27 art class must bring soft pastels, work clothes and aprons, although pastel sets can be bought at the art center. The class costs $70 for non-AAAC members and $60 for members. For more information, call the Art Center at 507-433-8451 during regular business hours, Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. or check out its website.
