Family ties, youth and God’s inspiration have brought inspirational speaker, author and faith-based songwriter Julie Hoy back to Austin for the second year in a row.

Hoy, who lives on the West Coast, will perform in a concert from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 inside the Pacelli High School auditorium. After performing at the school and visiting students last year, Hoy was excited to come back. Pacelli Elementary Principal Mary Holtorf first contacted Hoy last year about coming to perform at the school and speak to the students. This time, it was actually on Hoy’s accord to come back.

“Coming here is like coming home,” Hoy said, and added her mother is an Austin native.

After playing with music and songwriting at a very young age and teaching herself guitar, Hoy found herself doing anything she could, like radio spots, bar gigs and voice-overs, to keep going.

“I felt inspired to write meaningful songs,” she said.

Hoy will wait to reveal her message to students about why she followed her dreams.

However, she said, “I felt like God was calling me out.”

Hoy will also visit classes all day on Tuesday at Pacelli and attend and share her message at Wednesday’s mass, as well.

“I feel like my job is to share the gift that God has given me while encouraging others to do the same,” she said.

Free-will offerings at Hoy’s Monday concert will be taken to benefit the Pacelli Scholarship Fund. Refreshments will follow and CDs and books will be available for purchase.
