Vikings win first game since 2009

HAYFIELD — It wasn’t easy, but Hayfield’s football team gave its fans a great homecoming present when it won its first game since 2009 Friday.
The Vikings (1-4 overall, 1-4 HVL) leaned on their senior quarterback Brady Kramer as they prevailed with a 33-31 win over Kenyon-Wanamingo (0-5 overall, 0-4 HVL).

Kramer ran in a four-yard touchdown run to put Hayfield up 33-24 with 45 seconds left in the game, but K-W ran the ensuing kickoff back for a score to make it a two-point game. The Vikings recovered the onside kick to seal the win.
“There was a lot of emotion and it’s our first homecoming win since 2000,” Hayfield head coach Andrew Weiers said.
Kramer ran for 112 yards and three scores and he threw a 26-yard TD pass to Merrick Ducharme.
“Brady was breaking tackles left and right and put the team on his back,” Weiers said.
