United Way of Mower County will officially kick off its annual fundraising campaign on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

This year’s event will take place at the Mill Pond Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mandi Lighthizer-Schmidt, executive director of the United Way of Mower County, said it was easy to decide what to do this year.

“The United Way Worldwide is celebrating its 125th anniversary, and what better way to kick off our local campaign than with pizza and cake to thank all our supporters here in Mower County?” she said.

In addition to pizza and cake, the United Way of Mower County will preview campaign materials and announce the goal to the community as part of the celebration kickoff picnic.

“The United Way of Mower County began 54 years ago, and the commitment by the community to give and improve the lives of those around them has never been stronger.” Lighthizer-Schmidt said. “We want to thank each and every donor who has supported us over the years and have a little fun in the middle of the work week. We invite you to come down and join us.”
