MANKATO — The Austin boys soccer team suffered its first loss of the season when it allowed three first half goals in a 3-2 loss at Mankato East (4-3-1 overall, 1-2-1 Big Nine).
The Packers (6-1 overall, 2-1 Big Nine) had their chances in the second half, but they couldn’t muster the game tying score.
“We had a lot of shots and (our keeper) Collin Weisert wasn’t busy at all in the second half,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said.
Austin tied the game at 1-1 just a few minutes into the contest when Abinyan Lual knocked in a goal on crossing pass from Jake Hagen-Erickson. The Cougars scored the next two goals and Austin pulled within one when Francisco Torres scored off a pass from Nick Brehmer.
