The Parenting Resource Center and Welcome Center have partnered up to bring FreePhone MN to Austin.
FreePhone MN offers a free wireless phone to low-income assistance clients. There is no contract, activation fee or monthly charge, and up to 250 minutes of airtime may be used each month. The wireless phones will be distributed on Sept. 28 at the Welcome Center, located at 316 N Main St. in Austin.
Those who wish to participate need to bring: A government issued picture ID showing current Minnesota residential address; proof of the low-income assistance program you are on, like an EBT Card, SSI Benefit Statement or Medicaid card; and if your picture ID does not show your current address, bring a document that does.
For more information or to reserve a phone, please visit FreePhoneMN.org or call the office at 434-2863.
