Packer boys rally past Red Wing

The Austin boys soccer team overcame an early miscue as they went on to beat Reed Wing (0-2 overall) 4-1 in Art Hass Stadium Saturday.

The Packers (3-0 overall) knocked the ball into their own goal, which tied the game at 1-1 Austin was held scoreless for a long stretch before Franciso Torres, who also had two assists, gave Austin the lead for good with a goal with 16 minutes left in the game on an assist from Levi Vierkandt.

“We didn’t play very well after the own goal,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “When we finally scored and from there, we kept the pressure on.”

Abinyan Lual had one goal for Austin and Jake Hagen-Erickson had two goals.

Austin will play at Albert Lea (1-0 overall) Tuesday at 7 p.m.
