Letter to the Editor

On behalf of the Sumner Elementary Parents United four Kids Committee, we extend our sincerest thank you to the many people and organizations that made our first ever “Just Explore” event a huge success. The Just Explore event was planned as a fun learning opportunity for all elementary age children in Austin as a fundraiser for Sumner Elementary playground equipment instead of having our students go door-to-door selling.

The following businesses and organizations generously contributed to our event: Cornerstone Church, Kestner Electric, Overby Orthodontics, Mayo Clinic Health System Austin, International Paper, Elrod Green & Hyland D.D.S., Anonymous Donors, Integrity Real Estate, Proline, First Farmer’s and Merchants Bank, Fuhrman Real Estate, Ameriprize, G & G Heating and Air Conditioning, Steve’s Pizza, Remax Realty, Kwik Trip, Knauer’s Meat Market, Austin Lions Club and Hy-Vee.

We would also like to extend a note of gratitude to the following station leaders who provided fun, interactive science, art and culture learning opportunities for students: Radzoo of Owatonna, Dave Thompson and Austin Utilities, Jen Lloyd, Dylan Kaercher, Sue Grove, Sue Knoll and Riverland Community College, and the Austin Fire Department. Without any of these people or organizations, our event would not have been the tremendous success it was. And for that, we thank you.
