An Austin man pleaded not guilty to two charges Thursday after allegedly assaulting a woman.
Jarred Salisbury, 20, pleaded not guilty in Mower County Court to domestic assault by strangulation and domestic assault, both felonies.
According to the court complaint, officers went to the 1000 block of Third Avenue NW on Sept. 2 where a witness and the victim claimed Jarred Salisbury assaulted the 19-year-old victim in a car. Salisbury allegedly grabbed the woman’s neck and pushed her back against the seat. The victim states that she may have briefly blacked out and was scared that Salisbury would hit her.
According to the report, Salisbury told the victim, “If you call the cops, it’s going to be twice as bad next time.”
When officers arrived, the witness corroborated the story. Salisbury had also allegedly punched the passenger side rear view mirror off of the car.
Salisbury’s pretrial is Jan. 4.
