A 24-year-old originally placed on 20 years probation for a Grand Meadow burglary has been resentenced to 21 months in prison.
Cory Christopher Meredith, of Fountain, Minn., was resentenced on Monday on a first-degree burglary charge after a probation violation was found on Aug. 24. Meredith was given credit for 121 days served. Police originally arrested Meredith on Feb. 11, 2011, after he broke into a Grand Meadow home and tried to steal several items. According to the complaint, Meredith was staying at the victim’s neighbor’s home and went to the victim’s house for a drink. The next morning, the victim and her daughter awoke to noises in their house, confronted Meredith as he came down the stairs and got into an altercation.
Police responded to the scene at roughly 5:30 a.m., and the victims showed an officer a small compressor, a bag of items, video games and coins of which Meredith tried to steal. The door jam was also broken, and Meredith’s coat was left at the victim’s house with items inside the pockets.
