Austin Public Schools will soon know the results of a staff survey designed to figure out what works and what doesn’t in the district.
The Austin Public Schools board will hear the results at its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Last spring, 99 district staff members chosen at random answered questions about the district based on the Baldrige self-assessment method, a well-known way to identify qualities and best practices in various industries, as well as how organizations can improve. Educational Services Director John Alberts will reveal the results, including what employees thought were the district’s strengths and three areas the district can improve. Alberts said the survey was part of district policy to continuously look at ways to improve Austin education.
In addition, the board will review a portion of its strategic roadmap, which was designed more than a year ago as another way to improve the district. Superintendent David Krenz will go over strategic direction E, which focuses on getting a clear understanding in the community about APS and the need for district-organization and district-community partnerships.
Board members will also hear a report on all the buildings and grounds construction done over the summer.
