Severe road rash was the result for one man after an accident Wednesday in Austin.

According to the police report, Elizabeth Vasquez, 24, was attempting a U-turn near the Eighth Avenue and 13th Street NW intersection when she hit a 51-year-old man on a moped. An officer noted skid marks and confirmed that the man attempted to swerve. However, the man ran into the woman’s car. While Gold Cross arrived to assist, the man opted to have an acquaintance take him to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said Vasquez was cited for failure to drive with due care/inattentive driving.

The moped was heavily damaged, the report adds, while the car received damage to the front and driver’s side.
