The ominous weather went away, it seems.
The National Weather Service canceled a severe thunderstorm warning for Freeborn County, which was expected to hit Mower County this evening.
NWS meteorologists said in a statement that the storm which hit the southeastern part of Freeborn County weakened before moving into the area. The storm is still capable of producing 40-50 mph winds and dime-sized hail. It is expected to travel southeast and could affect the Lyle and Le Roy areas in Mower County.
Spotters were sent out just before 5 p.m. to watch for a possible tornado along Interstate 90 by Dexter, but no tornadoes were reported as of 5:30 p.m.
