Berglund resigns as Ellis principal

The search for a name for the new fifth- and sixth-grade school is nearing its end.

The School Naming Committee will present five potential names to the Austin Public Schools board during its regular meeting Monday.

The district took name submissions from the public earlier this summer and a committee of volunteers pored over the names last month. District officials aren’t releasing the names early but will unveil them to everyone at the meeting.

Board members will also accept the resignation of Ellis Middle School Principal Katie Berglund. District officials say interviews to replace her are already taking place.

The board will also discuss kitchen equipment contracts for the new school and approve transportation contracts for the 2013-2014 school year.
