Patrol Sgt. Tim Bennett with the Sheriff’s office said the stabbing was not life-threatening, but he could not comment further.

The mother called 911 at about 1 p.m. Friday. She allegedly told police her son stabbed her, and she was driving herself to the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Her son was reportedly still at the house. Deputies found the teenager on the front porch and took him into custody without complaint.

Authorities also confiscated two knives and a shotgun.

Bennett said the incident remains under investigation, and he could not comment on what might have caused the alleged assault. Authorities have not released the type of knife used.

The Freeborn County Attorney’s office filed a delinquency petition Monday against the teen.
