The Sumner Elementary Parents United 4 Kids group is taking a new spin at fundraising when it puts on its Just Explore! program this afternoon.

The event will have kids exploring through a variety of activities at Sumner Elementary including RadZoo, crime scene investigation with Sue Knoll from Riverland Community College, Power Up with Austin Utilities, Fun with French with Sue Grove, acting fun with Lights, Camera, Action with Dylan Kaercher, Water Ball Wars with the Austin Fire Department and more.

“We’re hoping to provide fun educational event that serves as a fundraiser to raise money for playground equipment,” said past Parents United 4 Kids chair Jen Haugen. “We’re trying to not use door to door catalog sales but instead have a fun event for the whole community.”

The event goes from 4 to 7 p.m. and group will be accepting donations as well.”

We’re really excited all about the sessions we have,” Haugen said. We hope to have a fun fundraising event that’s never been done in Austin. We’re hoping for a good turnout.”
