If you want to make an impression with watercolor painting and drawing, the Austin Area Arts Center has you covered.

Join AAAC member Bonnie Broitzman for a two-day workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, and Saturday, Aug. 18.

“Having taught art for the Austin Public Schools, colleges and many art centers, I come with many successful ways to teach watercolor painting and drawing,” Broitzman said in a press release. “But my favorite subject is the unexpected surprises of watercolor itself, free-forming on a wet sheet of Arches No. 140 paper.”

Participants will need to bring their favorite watercolor supplies, brushes and fresh colors in tubes. The class will use quarter-sheets of Arches No. 140 paper, and watercolor paper will be available for sale the day of the workshop. Broitzman suggests using tissues, terry towels, a large 2 to 3 inch brush, two shallow water containers, plywood for a drying surface and a piece of plexi glass to keep the paper wet longer.

The class costs $115 for non-members and $100 for members.
