Nathan Chesin, 92, passed away July 11, 2012, in Sun City, Ariz.
Nathan was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Dec. 4, 1919. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army and wounded in North Africa during World War II fighting Rommel’s forces in 1943. He earned the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for heroism. Nate lived in Austin, Minn. for a while. He owned and operated a chain of clothing, war surplus and sporting goods stores in Iowa and southern Minnesota. He also owned and operated stylish night clubs.
He moved his family to Phoenix in 1969. He and his darling wife taught dancing in their later 20s. He fished in Canada for many years and was an excellent bowler and a champion golfer, winning many golfing accolades. Nate was an all-star salesman during his 18 years selling industrial chemicals for National ChemSearch Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Sarah Chesin; wife, Sadie in 2001; son, Ricky in 1973; and brother, Percy in 1986.
He is survived by his brothers, Maury and Jack, both of Minneapolis; sister, Leah of Minneapolis; sons, Larry and Arlin; daughter, Stacy; and grandson, Randy Wolfe.
He will be missed dearly by his family and many friends, as he had a compassionate personality to all who knew him. No services are scheduled. Nate will be entered to rest with his wife at the V.A. National Cemetery, 23029 N Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.
