A local farmer lost 30 bales of hay and nearly a barn on Sunday when a fire erupted.

According to the sheriff’s report, deputies and the Brownsdale Fire Department went to 23949 570th Avenue at 6:20 a.m. for a report of a fire. When they arrived, John Jax, the owner, was removing hay bales as they were smoldering. The bales were under a pole shed and near a barn, according to the report; however, firefighters doused the blaze and there was no damage to either building. Heat and dry conditions may have caused the fire.
