Deputies are unsure of the cause of a motorcycle accident that put one rural Austin man in the hospital on Wednesday morning.

A Mower County Sheriff’s deputy went to County Road 2 a half-mile east of County Road 20 on Wednesday morning after an anonymous call that a motorcycle lay wrecked in the ditch. The deputy encountered the driver’s father, Stephen Williams of rural Austin, approaching the bike. Stephen told the deputy he did not know why his son, James Williams, 29, did not report the accident or if he had been drinking. James was reportedly in the hospital, but his injuries are unknown. The report states that the 1980 motorcycle was heavily damaged and had blood on the gas tank and display.

It is unclear if the accident will be further investigated.
