After a high-speed chase at 1:16 a.m. Friday, a rural Austin man is in the Mower County jail.

An Austin police officer followed Tony Michael Bell, 24, north of Austin on County Road 25 after he clocked Bell’s truck going 77 mph in a 40 mph zone. When the officer turned his lights on, Bell allegedly sped up to 92 mph and eventually turned his lights off, as well. The officer saw Bell turn into a driveway and park by a shed, where the officer followed and arrested him. After Bell stopped, he didn’t resist arrest.

Bell is in the Mower County jail awaiting formal charges. Police Chief Brian Krueger said he will likely be charged with second-degree DWI, fleeing an officer in a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. Bell’s truck has also been seized.
