Vision 2020 officials are looking for help again from the Mower County board.
Geoff Baker is slated to talk to the board about start-up funds for Vision 2020 during the county board meeting Tuesday.
Last month, County Attorney Kristen Nelsen told the board it couldn’t legally donate to Vision 2020 because the group doesn’t fit the requirements for donations.
According to Nelsen, county boards can only give money to certain organizations per state statute. While the board could donate to a community action agency, public or private agency or community action program among others, Vision2020 doesn’t fit the legal definitions for any such program or agency.
“I couldn’t find that Vision 2020 fit that statutory definition,” Nelsen told the board.
The meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the county board room.
The board also plans to set dates to discuss and make a decision on whether to move forward on the Human Services redesign.
