As they say, “Once the Fourth of July is past, summer is over.” So that means hit it hard this weekend and into next week because Austin’s entertainment, athletics and art will peak during the next five days. Enter Freedom Fest.

Youth baseball

Remember to check out day-two of the 34th Annual Austin All Star/Reichel Foods/Moose International Youth Baseball Tournament. Actually, you should probably write that one down, but it continues from Friday and into Saturday at Todd Park north diamonds north of Austin. Eight teams of 12 and younger competitors are swinging for the title.

Ulwelling Bike Race

Pay tribute and pedal away — at the 25 Mile Dan Ulwelling Bike Race. Registration starts 11 a.m. Saturday, and the race begins at noon at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center. Ride on, Dan.

Moose Lodge Car Show

Car show, meet town celebration — an obvious match. And Austin has that going on. The Moose Lodge will host a 4 p.m. car show, 4:30 p.m. car cruise and 6 p.m. street dance all on Saturday. Hello 50s.

Fly-in Breakfast

The Austin Morning Lions are hosting their annual fly-in breakfast at the Austin Municipal Airport from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy some breakfast; watch some airplanes coming in hot, and soak in another day of Freedom Fest.

Community Band

Monday may be the laziest day of the week, but what better time for some smooth jazz? The Community Band will host a free jazz concert at 7 p.m. at the Hormel Historic Home in the gardens.

Other events

Wait. There’s much more. Tuesday features another street dance and The Hormel Institute Walk for a Cancer Free World and family day in the park. Wednesday, finally, is the Fourth of July, which obviously brings a parade, fireworks and all sorts of fun. Then start preparing for winter.
