After missing about a month with an injury, Austin Post 91’s Tommy Olmsted is starting to find his rhythm.

Olmsted went two-for-four and knocked in a pair of runs for Austin as it beat Kasson 8-6 at Dick Seltz Field Saturday.

“I was expecting to be behind, but the last couple days I’ve gotten back to how I was playing before I got hurt,” Olmsted said. “It’s kind of nice to start breaking out and getting some hits.”

Austin broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning as Ethan Hortsmann, Olmsted and Jacob Kempen each drove in a run during the rally. Post 91 tallied five of its eight hits in that frame alone.

“We’ve been struggling with getting runs and if we can keep putting them up, we’ll be find,” Olmsted said.

Luke Mallory picked up the win for Austin as he didn’t have any walks and scattered six hits in four innings, while striking out five.

Austin (4-11 overall) has now won a two games in a row after it had been struggling.

“Winning breeds winning and it’s contagious,” Post 91 head coach Bob Stratton said. “We hit the ball reasonably well today and Luke Mallory threw well under the conditions.”

Besides stepping up at the plate, Olmsted has also been solid behind the plate during the last two games as he’s been filling in at catcher for Gabe Kasak. Olmsted hadn’t caught since his freshman year, but hasn’t had too much trouble.

“I like catching, but t definitely takes some getting used to and it’s hard to replace Gabe,” Olmsted said. “He’s so good.”
