ALBERT LEA — Albert Lea police are investigating the death of a 3-month-old baby. The child reportedly died over the weekend.

Albert Lea Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said though there was no sign of foul play involved in the baby’s death, it is procedure to investigate because of the age of the child.

The baby was brought into Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with breathing problems and reportedly died at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Officials are awaiting results of an autopsy, which should reveal the cause of death.
