The Ladies Floral Club is getting locals to learn about the Austin Public Library’s St. John’s Bible straight from the scribe.
The Ladies Floral Club will host guest speaker Tim Tiernes of St. John’s University at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15. Tiernes is the Director of the St. John’s Bible and has been a part of the project from conception to completion. He will share how a project of this size and significance came to be, the trials, lessons and result of such an ambitious endeavor.
“We have such a gift in this community to actually own the Heritage Edition of the St. John’s Bible,” said Ann Hokanson, director of the Austin Public Library. “These bibles are truly a work of art and once you hear the story behind them, it makes them that much more special.”
The event is open to the community. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Hormel Historic Home or Austin Public Library. Proceeds benefit the library. Five volumes of the Heritage Edition St. John’s Bible will be on display. Light refreshments will follow the presentation.
