Southland baseball team falls to Chatfield

CHATFIELD — The Southland baseball team racked up 15 hits, but it ended up on the short end of a 9-8 score in an eight-inning loss to Chatfield (11-6 overall, 11-6 Three Rivers) on the road Monday.

Chatfield clinched the win when one of its hitters was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and one out in the eighth.

The Rebels (8-8 overall, 8-8 Three Rivers) have now lost four games by one run and this one saw them commit four costly errors.

“Fifteen hits is enough to win a ball game, but you can’t give away runs on errors,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said.
