HAYFIELD – The Vikings finished in second place in their own softball tournament as they lost the title game 8-4 to Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in Hayfield Saturday.

The Vikings (7-10 overall) allowed five unearned runs in the loss to GFW.

In pool play, Hayfield beat Mabel-Canton 11-4 and topped Plainview-Elgin-Millville 12-10.

Meg Tapp went 7-for-11 with a double and six RBI on the day for the Vikings and Dani Wagner finished 8-for-11, with a homerun, a double, six RBI and four stolen bases.

Hayfield has now won four of its last five games.
