Six felonies issued for alleged Memorial Day knife assault

A knife-wielding Austin man who allegedly threatened two people on Memorial Day was charged with six felonies in Mower County Court.
Ronald Johnson, 36, faces two charges of second-degree domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault, two counts of terroristic threats and fifth-degree assault.
Police arrested Johnson at the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue SW after he allegedly threatened to hurt a girl. According to the court complaint, the girl called a friend to get her because Johnson was violent and wielding a knife.
The friend allegedly heard Johnson yelling in the background while on the phone and heard the victim say, “Don’t stab me Ronny. Don’t stab me Ronny.”
Johnson allegedly called the victim’s cousin and told him to pick her up from the house; however, when the cousin arrived, Johnson allegedly attacked him with a knife.
According to the court complaint, Johnson admitted to getting angry and breaking things in his home. Police saw broken dishes, furniture and other items scattered around the house.
Johnson’s next court appearance is set for June 7.
